I am suffering from a Rotator Cuff injury (Shoulder Injury) and rang the Dr as was in considerable pain after the initial steroid injection from a few weeks ago had worn off - the Dr was extremely helpful and managed to squeeze me in in-between appointments to give me another injection. Am so appreciative of the efforts taken and being able to see me at such short notice and to help alleviate my pain.
Have always found the staff at Ringmead helpful and responsive to my needs / requests and have no problems recommending them to anyone!

Rude and unhelpful dr’s
Review left 6 years ago
Visited 4 occasions for same systoms dr in the end basically said they don’t know and was rude on the phone basically said in certain terms your get over it. Asked for another appointment to see another dr and it was as if they tried to make the appointment as far away as they could to be difficult. All I wanted was to be told what the issue was but this seemed too much effort.

Calls waiting in a cue
Review left 6 years ago
I tried to book an appointment the other day and I was 8th in the cue, I waited on the phone for 25 minutes and made it to number 5, so I aborted the call.
Still not feeling well, I attempted to call again today and I was number 4 in the cue, I thought, great, shouldn't be to long, I managed to make it to 2nd but it took 31 minutes, how is it possible to only jump 2 cue places on the phone in 31 minutes, i was 2nd in the cue for over 15 minutes, i mean, how can this be happening, surely it cant take that long to book an appointment, i can drive from Bracknell to Reading quicker! I understand its at that busy time of the year but it isn't good it takes so long.
I never made it through to making an appointment and I lost patience so will try again later.
That said, I have had over 20 years of brilliant GP care from this medical practice.

Receptionists.
Review left 6 years ago
I would rarely complain about the surgery & generally find the Doctors there very good. However, occasionally I find the Receptionists a little bit abrupt and unhelpful.
I have recently had 3 different versions of information from 3 different people which has resulted in me not being able to get an appointment. On the last call to the surgery I felt that the person I spoke to was getting annoyed with me, so decided it would be better to phone back on another day in the hope that I would speak to someone a little friendlier.
There are some really lovely Receptionists that always apologise if they are unable to fit in with your needs and who are very understanding, but unfortunately the occasional one spoils that.

Thank you for your support

We are new to this area. Leaving my old doctors surgery was upsetting, worrying and scared. I have OCD, stress and anxiety. So leaving my previous doctors surgery was all so stressful. And my previous doctor knew I didn’t want to switch doctors surgeries. And so my doctor at the time recommended to me Ringmead Medical Practice Birch Hill. Still worried I came and registered myself and my 2 sons at the Birch Hill. The receptionist was helpful and approachable. I received few doctors phone appointments and doctors appointment at the surgery and at all times the doctors are understanding, caring with a “nothing to much attitude” Being on medication I depend on them everyday to get by. I feel less worried and stressed knowing my new doctors is always there to help and advise me. I am so thankful to my doctors on all occasions for being there for me and my 2 sons. Thank you Ringmead Medical Practice Birch Hill to all the doctors, nurses and front desk staff for all your support and caring approach.

My opinion on my visit.
Review left 7 years ago
Today I felt my appointment was very good. I was greeted with very positive , and confident approach by the doctor I was thoroughly checked over. Was listened to whilst explaining my problem . Reassured me that my history had been read. Outcome was medication was needed. Explained how the medication was to be taken . A thoroughly professional appointment . I feel totally happy to write this review. Cannot thank this surgery enough for there service to myself and the community .

Fantastic Service!
Review left 7 years ago
The service provided from my surgery is excellent . From Doctors , Nurses and any Administrative Staff . Each and every one with whom I have had to see have been helpful, pleasant, courteous and very explanatory of my problem. Far too many people are quick to run our NHS service down. But I feel I speak as I find and I cannot fault , my dealings with the NHS or my Doctors / Nurses. You do marvellous work and of great value in the community. Thank You

30mins No1 in the queue
Review left 7 years ago
I am on the phone for the last 30 mins.
Since I called I am "No 1 in the queue" and "an operator will be with me shortly"
Last time I called at 11 am and I asked for a sick note and they refused.
They said they cannot provide any medical services to me that day and I should call them again another day.
Are they supervised at all? Is there an NHS district authority?

waiting time at recerption

I have suggested previously to have the phones taken away from the customer facing receptionists, and to just allow them to deal with customers queing to speak to them. The phone calls could be answered by another member of staff in the main office away from the reception
The benefit of this is that customers would not have to wait, while calls are being taken one after the other, and would eleviate people getting extremely aggitated at the never ending phone calls coming into the surgery.

Long Wait on telephones
Review left 7 years ago
Today I called for Results - I was no. 3 in the que. 55 min 10 sec later I was still holing on. Eventually I used my mobile at the same time to call Option 6 (any other queries) and held on for 15min 54 sec. When I asked if there was something wrong with the lines, they said that there were only 2 people there and that the calls kept going back to the switchboard. I give up. Very poor indeed.
I was diagnosed with diabetes - and never told. When I went to see another DR.11 months later about something else, they mentioned it was due to the Diabetes that I never knew I had. When I queried it, I was told that they had tried to call me. There were no missed calls, no messages and if they can write to me about other issues that are routine, why could they not write to me about this! I am still very angry over this. Some of the DR's never take the time to explain what is wrong - they just dish out a script and send you on your way. Then when you see another Dr. he takes the time to explain and things are much clearer.
There are 1 or 2 doctors that need to seriously improve their manner to patients - and I am not talking about just bedside manner. They are borderline just rude in their everyday communication.
It takes several weeks to get an appointment!!
There are loads of other things wrong - but not enough space to write them down here. I wonder if this will come to anything - I doubt it.

Excessive waits for phones to be ...
Review left 7 years ago
On 7/8/17 I called on the phone at 12:25pm to get a BT result. I joined as 'number three in the queue. My call was finally answered after a 58 minute wait, with approximately 35 mins of that at 'number 1'. My 'successful' call was actually the third call I had made since 11:30 that morning: I abandoned the first two attempts after lengthy - but unrecorded - waits. A lengthy wait-time for ones calls to be answered is, sadly, a common occurrence. It is pretty apparent that a 3 hour window (11:30-14:30) for test results is insufficient to cope with the demand or there is not enough staff in general. Whatever the reason, the situation is in-tolerable and is reflecting very badly on the practice in general, undermining the excellent work done by the medical staff.

Ringmead Medical Practice

I'm very satisfied with this surgery. It's difficult to make a general appointment within a week but it's always possible to make a telephone consultation appointment. The doctor then decides whether you need to be seen and normally I've been seen the same day. I feel this is a much more satisfactory way to determine the need to see your GP

Minor surgery experience at Ringm...
Review left 7 years ago
I have just had a pretty involved minor surgery at Ringmead carried out by a doctor assisted by a thoroughly professional and friendly nurse.
The team greeted me in a friendly and reassuring manner and I was seen promptly.
They carried out the procedure with excellent hygiene and involved me in decisions taken throughout.
I was given clear advice about looking after the wound and just 10 days later the site is dry and clean and stitches removed leaving a very neat scar indeed. I am so grateful.

Amazing support at a difficult time
Review left 8 years ago
We received the most amazing support from our doctor when our daughter was poorly from birth. Other professionals discounted our claims but the doctor persevered and made sure we received the correct interventions. We were right in suspecting CMPA and reflux and now we have the correct medication and dairy free diet/ milk we have the happiest baby.
New parents rely on professionals listening without judgement, and being given empathetic emotional support- the doctor demonstrated both!
